Boy do I love this ball

As some of you might have noticed I have added a picture of the Complete NV on my site. I bought this ball about 2 weeks ago and man do I love it. As with all the NV balls in the NV line they really don't show what they can really do until they build up an oil track in the ball. I have been struggling to get a 600 for a while now actually I hadn't had one for about a month. Some of that was due to my knee, but something was telling me that it wasn't all my knee. Tony Reyes had a one day sale and I decided to pick up a new ball. I didn't really need one all my balls seemed to be working fine but I got such a great deal that I just went ahead and bought a Complete NV. I was a little hesitant because I was not that impressed with the NVS but I loved my Total NV so much that I decided to by one anyway. And boy am I glad I did. Since I got this ball I haven't shot anything under 650, and I have been stringing strikes like there was no tomorrow. In the last three series I have bowled a 242 and 256 and a 266, for the other games I haven't shot anything under 200. And because of this new ball I have gotten a lot of my confidence back which I think was a big part of the problem with bowling lately. I still haven't bowled a 300 but I have a feeling it is on its way. I know I am a big Columbia fan and I don't see any way I will stop loving Columbia 300 but the NV Balls that Ebonite has come out with are really fantastic. Way to go Ebonite, and please keep on making those NV's.

    Bowled about average

Well I had league last night and my knee held up pretty well. I had a little pain in the second game but it went away in the third game. As for my bowling, I started off well with a 9 spare in the first which was a solid 8 pin and then strung out the next 6 strikes. But in the 8th and 10th frame left two nasty splits, one that was pretty much unmakable for a lefty and a 6 7 10 split, which I just missed by a hair. The other split was a 3 7 9 split. Got the 3 9 but couldn't get the pin to come out of the pit to get the 7. Finished up with a 219 which is a pretty good game but it should have been a lot better. The next game I fell apart. The lane broke down and I made a mistake of changing balls and not hand positions first. Normally changing balls works for me but not tonight. The ball I went to was just not strong enough to make it back from where I was throwing it and was two strong if I moved left. I changed in the 9th frame back to my original ball and flatten my hand and left a solid 9 in the 9th and struck out in the 10th for a lousy 168. But I came back in the third game with a 201 by going back to the ball I went to in the second game. And the lanes were broken down enough for me to play where I wanted to play. Ended up with a 588, should have been a lot better. The ball that I was using most of the night was the Complete NV and when they say it leaves a lot of solid 8 and 9 they weren't kidding. In one of the games I left one solid 8 and two solid 9s. The solid 8s I can maybe understand but those darn solid 9s or the solid 8s for you righty's just don't make sense to me. It looks like to me it is a perfect shot just the pins don't do what they are supposed to do. Maybe a bad rack who knows. But it definitely sucks when you leave them. I will try to post later. Good luck and good bowling.

Hey everyone it's been a while

    Wednesday, June 4, 2008, 04:05 PM [General]

Hi everyone, it has been a while since I last posted. I had a lot of things that went on during the last few months, but things do seem to be getting better. As for my knee injury it hasn't got any better, actually it has gotten worse. It was starting to get a little better but then I fell at the line at a local bowing alley. The bowling alley has a new Kegal oiling machine and it is all computerized. It does everything on its own, including changing lanes by it self. All they have to do is push on. It's pretty cool, however I guess the machine had a malfunction and oiled part of the approaches, and they tried to clean it up the best they could, but I guess there was still some residue on the approaches, and I fell flat on my face and landing right on my bad knee. I just wish they would have said something to me before I went up there and bowled. Plus I hurt my wrist but it wasn't my bowling hand so I am ok. It is funny for me if the parts of my body that I bowl with are ok I don't worry about it, I just say well I can still bowl. As for my average it has been going up despite my bad knee. I have just had to change my approach a little. However, every once in a while my timing gets screwed up, but I am working it out. I have league tonight so I will see how I do, hopefully good. Also I just bought a new ball I didn't really need one right now but Tony Reyes was having a one day sale and the prices were un beatable, plus I have a few tournaments coming up and I have done well with the NV balls in two of the tournaments I am going to bowl in so I bought the Complete NV, so far so good. I will talk to you all later bye for now.

    I might have found something

    Sunday, March 30, 2008, 02:10 AM [General]

Well I might have found something that I was doing wrong in my game. Like I said in my last blog I bowl kind of like Ryan Shafer, and that I needed to start standing up at the line to hit my spot. So today I had a 700 club tournament, and I tried to stand up at my release, but it just wasn't working. I was still chicken winging it and the ball just wouldn't come back. Also again the ball wasn't picking up its roll. I originally thought that the ball had to be baked so I baked it and it still didn't pick up its roll. In the 10th frame of the second game I decided to not just stand straight up at the end of my approach but to stand straight up throughout my approach. And that is where it all turned around. I threw a turkey in the 10th and then started off with a strike in the next game and a solid 7 in the second frame. So I knew I was on to something. I continued to stand up as straight as possible throughout my entire approach and I started bowling like I used to. I not only was hitting my spot but the ball picked up its roll perfectly and the ball wasn't sliding past the break point like it has been. I finally have some confidence in my game again. For the last month I thought it was the way they were oiling the lanes but I now know that it was me that had the problem. For a month I couldn't get the ball to come back when I swung it out even if I hit my spot, and I could not figure out why my ball wasn't picking up its roll on the lane. I actually thought that the ball might have died out, but now I know it was me and hopefully I will be back averaging 200 again. Only time will tell.

Well I thought it was getting better

    Friday, March 28, 2008, 03:57 AM [General]

Well I thought that my bowling was getting better but I guess I was wrong, but there might be a little light at the end of the tunnel. I was bowling tonight in league and I had another bad week. I barely made it over 500 tonight. I had a terrible 528, but it was better than last weeks score of 479. I have been taking my camera to the bowling alley and filming myself and I couldn't really see what I was doing wrong, but tonight I think I might have found something. I am the kind of bowler that likes to stand up in my stance at the end, kind of like Ryan Shafer, but I noticed that I wasn't really doing that. So tonight I forced myself to stand up straight at the end of my approach and all of a sudden I hit my spot my speed was better and my revs were better. However at the end of the night I started to pull a few balls. So what I think I need to do is keep forcing myself to stand straight until it comes naturally and then I should be in good shape. "Hopefully"
